{BN Black Book of Parties} Pink and Green Polka Dot 1st Birthday

Mindy from A {Day} With Lil Mama Stuart sent us a fun pink and green polka dot 1st birthday party she put together for her niece, Erin, that we want to share with you today. We featured Mindy’s Shabby Chic 1st Birthday Tea Party on our blog last year and we think this pink and green polka dot party is just as fabulous as the first!

Mindy’s sister in law wanted her daughter’s dol {Korean 1st birthday celebration} to be pink and girly with a touch of green for spring. Based off the polka dotted balloon invite, she put together a detailed party plan so her sister in law could easily execute Erin’s party. Her plan focused on pink, green, polka dots, balloons, daisies, tulle and Erin’s pictures throughout the year. She incorporated each of these elements throughout the party {the entryway, gift table, sweets table, doljabi table, appetizer buffet, centerpieces and place settings} using Sprik Spaces’ free polka dot patterns and washi tape.

For the entryway she matted pictures from Erin’s newborn, 3, 6, 9, and 12 month portrait sessions to cardstock and taped them to ribbons. 6 yards of tulle were used to drape over the doorway.  What a wonderful way to share the beautiful pictures of Erin growing up over the last year!

The doljabi is a Korean first birthday tradition in which various items are placed in front of the baby. Whichever item the birthday girl picks is thought to tell her future {golf ball=athlete; pencil=scholar; stethoscope=doctor; paint brush=artist: microphone=performer}.  Mindy created many of the items for the doljabi table using the polka dot patterned paper.  What a fun tradition!

Centerpieces were created by using buckets from Target and daisy bouquets from Michael’s. It literally took her a few minutes to put each centerpiece together. The menus were printed on white cardstock and adorned with one strip of washi tape.  I love the banner made out of Erin’s baby pictures hanging in front of the food table – so cute!

For the sweets table Sandy wanted a modern dol, while keeping a few classic elements. To combine modern with traditional on the main table, she included candy coated marshmallow pops & cupcakes with dduk {Korean rice cakes} & fruit.

Erin’s grandma sewed the tulle table skirt and they scattered balloons on the floor, which the kids loved playing with!

Mindy, we think you did a beautiful job coordinating all of the little details to make this party very special for your little niece!  Thanks for sharing it with us!
