Friends I am taking you away from all the Fall talk on the blog lately to discussing how you can transform spaces in your home with designer style but affordably. We talk a lot about this here because as you know I have been a designer for over 15 years and currently we live in a rental. Obviously not my dream home but I think I pack it with a lot of my designer style and yet don’t spend tons of dollars doing so. I really do think with key items you can really make a statement. Recently, I went into my local At Home, The Décor Superstore and was blown away by their large assortment of affordable designer products. I mean there is something for every space in your home there! I decided to makeover the room in my home most everyone sees which is our entry and show you how to get big designer style on a budget. Ready for my entry makeover??
So here is what our entry looked like before we moved in . . . .
And here it is now!
A huge difference don’t you think? I’ve got some key tips for you to make a transformation like this for yourself. So make note of these.
Tips to Get High Designer Style on a Budget:
Tip 1: Always use greenery
Everytime I design a space I always add something green. I think it just breathes life into a space. The overscaled boxwoods are perfect in this space since the niche behind it is so tall. I personally feel bigger is always better. Something under scaled just gets so lost. I also tend to choose greenery that has a sculpted look to it. Succulents, boxwoods and moss balls are some of my favorites to add to a space.
Tip 2: Add Texture
I think texture is so important in a space. Especially these days with everyone liking neutral palettes, there has to be something that breaks it all up. These driftwood candle holders are perfect for not only adding texture but creating ambiance with candles in the evenings.
Tip 3: Add a pop of gold
Gold is the new black. Every space in my book should have a touch of gold. It is that little bit of added elegance. The gorgeous gold turtle shells are mounted on these marble blocks and just ooze high style!
Tip 4: Make it shine
Add a little sparkle to your space with mirrors! Especially in a small narrow space like this entry, mirrors can make it look so much bigger. Create a gallery wall with mirrors for a grand effect. You do not need to buy just 1 mirror to get a high end look. A bunch of small ones clustered together will get you the look and be unique.
Tip 5: Lucite always wins
Let me tell you lucite is one of those elements I think you can have in any room and it brings instant glam and style to the space. This gorgeous velvet tufted bench with the lucite legs is to die for and was a steal! It nestles perfectly under our table and is a great place to take shoes on and off. I love a piece that is not only beautiful but is functional.
Tip 6: Add pattern play
A sophisticated pattern can take a room from drab to fabulous instantly. I love the selection of area rugs and runners At Home carries. They have a designer look to them and are so affordable. I also love that there are so many options for size on each one too. This black and white greek key pattern is bold and adds just the right amount of pattern play with the wallpaper.
So I hope you got some great tips on how to add high end designer style to a room with affordable pieces from At Home, The Décor Superstore! You will be amazed at all the items you can choose from to really customize the look of your home. They receive over 500 new items each week which means you have plenty to select from. Each week you could pick a new room in your home to decorate! Hope you loved my entry makeover and your inspired to go out and revamp a space in your home loaded with designer style in a affordable way.
