Can y’all believe that Thanksgiving is this week? Where did November go? It’s Michele from Sweet Threads Design Co. here and I have a fun and simple DIY that your Thanksgiving guests will enjoy from the moment they walk in the door. What better way to capture the upcoming holiday then with a “thankful” board?
DIY Thankful Board:
Supplies:
To start, I picked up 3 large sheets of cardstock at my local craft store in some bright Thanksgiving colors.
Directions:
Then I made a template of 3 different leaf shapes for tracing. You can draw these freehand, trace some leaves you may have outside, or search for some templates online.
After tracing the leaves on the papers, I cut them all out ~ this is where your kids can come in and help! I know mine always like to lend a hand in any craft activity!
For my thankful board, I used a framed chalkboard I have and attached a few rows of twine to each end using eye screws. I also found a sweet sign in the dollar spot at Target that says “Give Thanks” I hung on one end. I love the bright colors on the sign and the message was perfect for my board.
My kids got a head start in writing what they were thankful for. It is something you can do as a family once a week. I placed blank leaves at the bottom of the board with a marker so guests or family members can easily write their blessings and place on the board.
I truly enjoy watching the board get filled up! And add a few of my own or help my kids with theirs. It is such a blessing to take note all we are thankful for especially this time of year!
I placed the board in our entryway and it’s such a pretty display for guests to see as they join us for Thanksgiving dinner! You can place yours on a buffet in the dining room, over your fireplace or on the wall in your kitchen! Wherever you have the space to count your blessings this year. Happy Thanksgiving all!
