Happy Monday friends! I have something super special to share with you today. I had the privilege last week to be invited by Habitat For Humanity and Lowes to their Girl’s Night Out event to celebrate National Women Build Week. I wanted to share this special experience with you all and tell you a little more about this event that you might not have heard of it.
I love Habitat For Humanity’s mission statement on their site . . .
Habitat for Humanity’s National Women Build Week is a weeklong event created by its Women Build program that invites women to devote at least one day to help families build strength, stability and independence through housing. The week is meant to spotlight the homeownership challenges faced by women.
The event will be held the week leading up to Mother’s Day in 300 communities. Hosting the event during this week reinforces the message that every woman can make a difference through learning and using construction skills to build stability and self-reliance through shelter.
This year, there will be more than 17,000 women volunteering at Habitat For Humanity builds from April 30th through May 8th.

Our girl’s night out event included framing of a house, creating DIY door mats, and fun activities for the volunteers like a photobooth, DJ, and informational booths on building tools/materials.
I have to say my favorite was making this door mat that of course I did in ABN signature colors – blue and white! It was fun to design a pattern in my colors and make something for a family in need.

Of course I had to get my build on! Let me preface this. I am NOT good with tools. I clearly was not swinging my hammer right and thankful had a talented friend help me out. Randi and I had a great time partnering up slamming a few nails in!

I really had so much fun learning the mission of Women Build Week and working with the Trinity Habitat For Humanity Volunteer Program. You can check out my friend Randi’s post on her blog too HERE.
