I have another makeover in our Master Bedroom to share with you today. Earlier in the week I revealed our bed makeover and today I have a super simple chalk furniture paint dresser tutorial for you. Take a piece of furniture you already own and transform it into something brand new with just a few steps! I was recently introduced to Maison Blanche Chalk Furniture Paint and it has been love at first sight. I mean seriously. From the packaging to the quality of the paint is perfection.
So let’s take a stroll back to when I bought this Henry Link dresser. . . .
I had found it at the Salvation Army for a steal of a price. It was not a horrible color but it was not in the best of shape and it did not go with the room. We lived with it for awhile but I just knew I wanted a creamy grey color. So after selecting the perfect color from Maison Blanche, here is the after . . . .
An amazing difference don’t you think?!
Chalk Furniture Paint Dresser Tutorial:
Materials Needed:
- Dropcloth
- Maison Blanche chalk furniture paint (the color I used was Hurricane)
- Clear Wax
- Paint Brush
Directions:
Step:1 Remove all hardware
Step 2: Paint first coat of paint onto dresser. Let dry. Mine took about 30-40 minutes to fully dry but this is also the end of summer and it is pretty hot here in Dallas. If it is a cool day, you may need to let it dry overnight.
I even enlisted the help of my 8 year old. She loves being able to help paint “real” projects!
Step 3: Paint second coat and let dry. I personally do not think you need to do 3 coats but if you feel you still need more coverage then you can.
Step 4: Apply clear wax. I used a old wash cloth and scooped some onto the cloth and rubbed it into the finish. Then I took another old wash cloth and wiped off any excess.

What kind of clear wax do I buy? Is it rubbed on or applied with a paintbrush?
I use the clear wax from Maison Blanche. You can find it right here: http://maisonblanchepaint.com/category_2/Antique-Wax.htm
What is the paint color on the walls?
The closest color to it is Sherwin Williams Dover White SW6385. This is a rental home so I don’t know the exact color.
What happens if you don’t use the wax? Is it necessary?
The paint will chip easily. The wax seals it in.
I just picked up a couple of Henry Link pieces and I would like to paint them. I have never painted furniture. You didn’t sand and prime first?
No I didn’t. Generally with chalk paint you don’t need to sand first.
Love this! The drawer looks so beautiful. I have been making with chalk paint a lot lately. It is just perfect paint and so easy to use. ?
I LOVE this paint and it really is the easiest paint I have ever used.
Love the transformation! You have a cute helper!
