This year I chose a simple red and white color scheme with touches of burlap. I cleared the mantel of my white ironstone pitchers and started fresh with this oversized chalkboard print.
I added my berries I have had for a few years and these glitter cone trees and that is it. Definitely more of a minimalist look for my mantel this year than from previous years.
I got these stockings from Hobby Lobby this year and they were 50% off a little while back (I didn’t even need to use my discount code!) and found this darling yarn pin in a L for Lauren at Target.
I just have to find one more jingle bells stocking holder for our 3rd stocking and then I am done. For some reason our reindeer stocking holders have gone missing. Don’t you hate that?!
This year I found 2 of these darling topiaries at our local resale shop. One was not working and then other was fine so they gave them to me for $15. I thought that was a total steal and when I got home and tried them out they both worked. Score for me! I used some old upholstery banding and just took some glittered berries and white poinsettias and shoved them here and there. Our little DEMPSEY banner was made from some alphabet letters from the dollar bin at Target and we taped them onto some bakers twine. I love that it is our little namesake tree.
Would you like to save this post?
The other side of our fireplace has this lantern and I just filled it with some ornaments. I would love to find some more pine leaves and put them underneath for it to sit on but my husband said when we use the fireplace I might burn the house down. I had to concede of course!
I call our Christmas tree this year the joyful candy cane tree. Right?!! It totally looks like it and I love that it does have a lot going on on it but with the same color scheme of the red/white/burlap it doesn’t look to busy.
I found some simple white florals at Hobby Lobby and shoved them into the top of the tree and then used all these other red and silver sticks I had from past years. I think the bigger the top the better!
Our JOY letters came in this awful brown color so I painted the back of them brown. I actually had placed them here temporarily until I decided where I wanted to put them but then loved it after a while and just decorated around them.
Of course I added some of ABN’s signature wrapping paper to the bottom of the tree for a fun pop.
I am so happy that it all turned out simple yet super festive with all these pops of red. Just what our little blue and white living room needed this year!

I know this sounds crazy but you didn’t happen to buy an extra one of those stockings that you don’t need by any chance? I bought 4 for my family last year and found out I was pregnant in April of this year. Hobby Lobby doesn’t have them this year and I can’t find them anywhere on the Internet but here!! If you have an extra you would sell, I’m in desperate need to buy!!
I love the new art print for the mantle, it’s perfect!
This print is just beautiful Rebekah and your mantel is lovely!
I think it is a trend for sure this year and I’m lovin’ it!
Love your burlap and red colors! I am all about the scaled back Christmas this year; glad I’m not alone!!
Your home looks lovely for the holidays!
Thank you Mandy!
I love your Christmas decorations! Hoping my house will be decorated enough by next year after our move to do something photo-worthy. 🙂 Have a great Christmas!
