We all have the room we take our dirty clothes to. The one that gets piled with stuff, left by the back door and used as a storage space for paper goods and extra linens. Yep, that’s the one – the laundry room. It may be the one room in your home that you think doesn’t need a sink, but it is the one that could benefit most from its addition. Today I’ve teamed up with BLANCO, one of the leading manufacturers of sinks and faucets, to show you all the reasons why this space should not be overlooked.

What To Use a Laundry Room Sink For:
1. Soaking stained clothes before washing
I always have 1 or 2 stained articles of clothing (mostly from my daughter!) that need to be set aside to treat them before going in the wash. Having a sink in the laundry room to do this would be blissful, and having a place to wash out the clothing in the same space before throwing them in the laundry makes this task so much easier. I love that the BLANCO LIVEN™ sink has 8 colors to choose from allowing you to match up the perfect sink to the design of the space with this task in mind.
2. Rinsing out bathing suits
Throwing bathing suits right into the washer after you’ve been in the pool all day is a big no-no! First they need to be rinsed from all of the chlorine that eats away at the elastic fibers of the material. This really helps them last longer and quickly rinsing them in the laundry room sink rather than in the kitchen where your food has been is a much cleaner way to get the job done. I love the BLANCO QUATRUS™ because you can select it as a drop-in or undermount. I personally would select the undermount for easy counter cleanup.
3. Watering plants

The worst is when you need to water plants and your kitchen sink is full of dishes. As much as I try to keep the kitchen sink clear of dishes, sometimes they are just piled up (the joys of a working mom right?)! I love the idea of a functional laundry room sink that is the perfect size for me to water my plants. My big fiddle fig actually needs to sit in a small pool of water for 24 hours for a good watering, so this definitely would be the ideal way to get it done.

4. Washing pets

My little guy is only 12lbs and for small dogs, this is the way to go! For years, I have broken my back trying to wash him in the bathtub because leaning over the tub wrestling with him is no joke, friends. I love the idea of using a laundry sink as my command center for my dog. Even building in some food bowls and storage for his things makes this space very purposeful.
5. Clean up before entering the house

After gardening or being caught in the rain, it is great to have a sink right there to wash hands, rinse off boots and tidy up anything else that needs a good rinsing. I would hate to track all that through the house. I love this sink since it is an undermount, allowing you to easily wipe the counters down of all the excess water and pushing it right into the sink.
Thinking ahead of how you would use a laundry room sink before you install one, will help you decide what style and model you will need. I always ask my clients how they will use a space, designing it first with function in mind and then form. I love the functionality of the BLANCO sinks and the beauty of their designs. So tell me, what will you use your laundry room sink for?

After living in my home for almost 40 years I finally have my laundry room finished and I have a nice sink now with a sprayer and after all the renos we had done this is my favorite. I have a Westie who is 14 and has some health issues and washing her in the sink now is just the best
