Yesterday I shared my tips on decorating and preparing for a fall dinner party and today I want to share some more Thanksgiving dinner ideas.
The center of the table is such a fun place to add whimsical touches too. I generally like to start with the dead center and work my way outwards. Choosing a main focal piece like this lantern really pulls the table together.
Jumping from our blue and white plates, I used our ginger jars from around the house for the 2 sides of the table. Again pulling together that blue and white color we started with really gives unity to your design.
I then mixed in more natural elements like the antlers, twig pumpkins, gourds, mini white pumpkins, eggplants.Creating layers with these gives it not only a organic feel but a layered texture tone.
Of course I carried in from our mantel more of the corn tassels and added in some fresh greenery and sticks of pheasant feathers.
So here are some guidelines for creating a cohesive dining room table:
- Create a focal point in the middle of the table
- Maintain your color palette throughout the accessories
- Use natural elements to create a whimsical layered look (ie: fresh vegetables, fruits, branches from the tree in the yard, etc.)
- Use white as a grounding color (dishes, pillows, accessories). Using too many colors can make it look busy
