I love knocking things off my list and having plans for our home as it transforms from when we moved in. I can’t believe it, but we are already coming up on 6 months of us living here! You can read more about our building journey of our new home HERE. One of my big “to do” list items is to make a beautiful and functional laundry room. It is so small and I really need to make it have more storage and better use of space for us. But everything begins with a plan. So I took myself off to one of my favorite stores, Floor & Decor to get inspired and select the main components of our laundry room makeover.

The first thing I did was book an appointment with a Floor & Decor designer. I absolutely love this free service because they can help guide and inform you of the products that will make your vision come true and help you stay on budget. Sometimes when you have so many options to choose from, you need someone to keep on you track. Floor & Decor also has special financing to help get your project going quicker. It can be tough to budget for a project like this, so that definitely helps.
I had a scheduled 15 minute call with Marie, a designer from the Floor & Decor store in North Richland Hills, Texas. I had emailed her my inspiration images before I had my appointment so we were able to discus these over the phone as well.

She was amazing! When I walked in to meet with her the next day, this is what greeted me. She had pulled samples of items she thought would best fit my project off of my inspiration photos and initial chat. Marie knew I wanted a clean, modern beachy look and I loved the glass tile elements and wood tile flooring she pulled. This was a great place to start and see what popped out to me.
We grabbed a large cart and started to walk the showroom after review the basic aesthetic of what I was looking for one more time. Our first stop was walking up and down these mock room displays so I could look at what different products would look like once installed. There are so many different ways to install tile and flooring and this is a great area of the store to see all these options. This is also a great spot to take pictures for your installers to see exactly what you want.
TIP – Take a picture of edge details, how tile transitions with the flooring, and how to work in decorative tile pieces into your design.
I love how unique this store is with the way it is laid out and how visual it is for it’s customers to shop. These are such gorgeous displays and really make it easy to see things in a larger scale!
Once we were done here, we moved onto the flooring materials. One of the main things I pointed out to Marie was that I wanted a patterned floor. So we felt this would be the best place to start with our design plans.
There are so many options and I love the big pieces like above so you can see it put together in a larger version. It definitely helps you envision it in your space easier. All the pricing is right there as well as sizing details to take note of so you know how much to order.
I loved seeing all the gorgeous decorative tile samples but of course I was drawn to the marble patterned pieces. I just love the movement in marble and it has that clean modern look I am going for. Now typically marble can be costly but since my space is so small, I thought this might be one spot I could splurge on. Honestly the pricing at Floor & Decor is so competitive and I thought this was a fantastic price for this material.
But of course I wanted to look at all my options that would make my vision of a modern beachy laundry room and so we moved onto some wood tile flooring samples.

Oh my goodness there were so many ranging from grey tones to a dark espresso color just in the wood tile flooring! I particularly loved this more grey washed one. Marie told me all about the durability and some installation tips to talk to the installers about if I chose this one.
After picking out two samples for flooring options, we walked over to all the counter top selections. They have them on large wall units like these which make it so easy to see. I held up my flooring picks next to counter tops I liked to see what one would go best. I am so partial to the Carrara quartz we already have in our house and wanted to stay with that. Marie grabbed a sample of that and added it into our cart.
I made sure to look at all the edging details before we walked out of this area and snapped a photo for the fabricator so I can let him know what I want. I love a modern edge detail so I think I am going to do the Eased edge profile.
After walking the showroom, seeing all the options and selecting the pieces that might work for my project, we laid everything out in her office.
She pulled a picture of the main inspiration photo I had sent her, and we selected the pieces that would best fit the direction I want to go in. As you can see I went with the marble patterned tile. It makes me so excited to look at it!
So here is my final design board with selections for all the pieces I will need to complete this project.
I love how the grey in the patterned floor will really pull out the grey speckles in the quartz counter.
I could not have pulled this together without the amazing team from Floor & Decor and their wide selection of products to choose from. You know I love a one-stop-shop kind of store and this is one of my favorites! They have a 14-day free storage policy as well so if you need a little extra time coordinating the pickup of your materials then they’ve got you covered.
Floor & Decor is so unique with the way the store is laid out, it’s depth of products to choose from and amazing pricing on their materials.
