It is officially summer break in our house and I am so excited today to be apart of the Loveliest Looks of Summer Home + Fashion Tour Summer Adams that Summer of and I are hosting! I have joined some of my favorite bloggers to give you a peek into our homes and how we have decorated them for summer as well as one of my staple outfits I will be wearing this summer on repeat. If you are new here, then welcome and my name is Rebekah. I was an interior designer when I lived in Los Angeles and took a step back designing with clients when I created my blog A Blissful Nest. I love to share my designer tips and tricks on how to get a designer look for less and sharing fashion ideas with how your signature style can bleed from your home into your wardrobe.

We recently finished building our home after living in Texas for the last few years and find a property with a little lake in the back. You can read more about our building process HERE. We picked this location because I am such a water person growing up at the beach and love having the lake in our backyard. I am still finding my groove decorating our new home and there is so much we still want to do. So I hope you enjoy my summer home tour and stick around and see how our home evolves over the next few years.
I painted all the walls and trim in our home Sherwin Williams Bright White. I wanted a neutral pallet to start with for now and it really makes the space bright and airy. But at the end of the day I love col0r and my favorite color is shades of blue. It reminds me of the water and makes me think of California which is where I am from.
The first thing I did was select the accent colors to reflect the summer season.
The base colors of this room is neutrals except for my velvet navy sofa. It is such a great color palette to add pops of color in and transform a room from season to season. This year I chose to work with lavender purple (which I had been using in my spring home) and coral pink. They both have blue tones in them and work beautifully with my navy blue velvet sofa.
This chunky blanket is one of my favorites. I by nature, am always cold, even in the summer indoors. I like to have lightweight blankets around or when I need them. I actually found this one in the bedding department but loved the color and thought it was perfect for here.
I am also in love with these chunky woven pillows. They are the perfect amount of texture in here. I think these will transition perfectly with my fall decor later. I also think it mirrors a bit of the rug which I love!
This year I kept my mantle simple with this paneled mirror, faux coral sconces and a cluster of candlesticks in mercury glass (similar) and in this weathered wood finish (similar). I added these candles that are operated with a remote. They can even be set on a timer to go on and off each day at a certain time. I just love them for ambient lighting.
Add summer pillows for accents.
Another one of my favorite summer pillows are these oversized striped ones. They actually are a reversed color on the back which I see perfect for fall when I want to go with darker colors. They are super slouchy and so comfy.
Add candles for ambience.
I obviously have a thing for candles and have them everywhere. I light them when I start cooking dinner at night and I love the smell when they are all lit. I picked this one up at Homegoods but this one is similar and I love the smell!
Have a collection of lightweight blankets.
This is another lightweight blanket I found and the stripe pattern matches the pillows I have on the spindle chairs. This one is a bit lighter than the other one and I love having it for movie nights.
I draped it on the edge of my sofa but sometimes I have it rolled up and placed in the basket on the fireplace hearth.
This is another one of my favorite summer pillows I got this year and it was so inexpensive. I love the paisley pattern and the tassels. It is also a good neutral with everything else going on in the room.
Add fresh summer flowers in vases all around.
In the spring is when I typically start adding fresh flowers to my grocery cart and stocking the house with beautiful vases full of them. They are so affordable and such a great way to add color to your home. They also smell so pretty and I think having live plants and flowers in a home truly livens up a space. Trader Joe’s is hands down my favorite place to go but Kroger has some pretty bunches too.
So there you go! I hope you loved my summer touches in my living room. I will be sharing my kitchen reveal soon as well as my entry and front porch decorated for summer in the next few weeks.
My favorite outfit for summer.
So I also wanted to share with you my favorite outfit I got for summer this year. It is this gorgeous breezy dress in my favorite color. The color of this off the shoulder dress is a rich navy perfect for summer nights out on the patio or even pool days over your bathing suit.
This dress has a flattering length and hits right above the knee. I am in love with the embroidery detail and ruffles too.
I paired it with these ombre tassel earrings and one of my favorite sandals for summer. Unfortunately my earrings are sold out but I found almost the exact same ones HERE. And of course my sandals are from last summer too but you can search for some HERE.

I love those throws! They remind me of my beach blankets from cariloha.com I actually use them to throw over our outdoor patio furniture. And by the way, that dress looks fabulous on you! Taking some of your ideas for my living room too since my favorite color is blue 🙂
