Christmas Home Tour 2024

Welcome to my coastal Christmas home tour! I actually was able to decorate in our new home last year but did not have time to actually take pictures to do a home tour for you.

This year I am well enough ahead that I can share my holiday home tour and hopefully give you some ideas when you decorate your own home this year.

I really embraced the cool soft colors that I already have in my home and I love the warm and cozy feel of it.

Typically it takes me about a month to decorate my home for the holidays because I like to take my time adding little vignettes and focusing on finer details.

This year I added lots of cozy details with throw pillows and blankets as well as a lot of candles.

And I used a lot of what I already owned except for a few affordable finds I know you will love and I will share so you can grab them too.

I have a great base of holiday decor that is neutral which makes it easy for me to switch my color scheme each year and I’ll give you some tips on how to do that.

Christmas Entryway Decor

Our entryway is part of our main living room so it really is a narrow space to decorate. I have a console table that backs up to one of our sofas as you enter from the doorway.

I have a beautiful table lamp here and a basket tray that I usually have on the top.

I added some beautiful greenery stems to a larger oversized vase, a nutcracker with my favorite Frasier fir candle, and a collection of vintage glass trees that have been in my family for years.

Along the side of this entry space is my little rattan bar cart.

I always have this little rattan shade table lamp on it with a timer so it goes on and off at a certain time of day. I love that so my house is never dark when the sun goes down.

I added a small juniper berry wreath to the mirror with a command hook and tied some beautiful ribbons in blue silk and white velvet to the wreath.

I added another nutcracker here as well as some faux berry greenery to the vase for a soft subtle holiday look.

Christmas Kitchen Decor

In our kitchen I went with simple winter greenery and a few small subtle holiday accent pieces.

Most of these pieces I already had on hand and have used in past holiday home tours so if you’ve been around here for a while you will recognize them.

I love to use as much decor that I already have on hand and give it new life with ribbon and other small accents.

These small juniper berry wreaths are one of those pieces I have had for years. I love the little berries and I used a thick green velvet ribbon to tie on them.

I attached them using green floral wire and just looped them through the back of the chair and wreath, then twisted the ends together. So simple and easy to take them off!

I kept my island relatively clear except for this beautiful tall vase filled with these faux real touch Norfolk pine stems. These are the more affordable option to the Afloral ones everyone talks about and in my opinion just as good.

On this little wood stand, I placed a Frasier fir candle, a small bowl of silver glass ornaments, and a mercury glass tree.

I love lighting this candle when I am cooking. It is the same brand as the one in the entry and it smells amazing!

I added little Christmas houses to my shelves on either side of the range and more berry greenery stems.

I also have some tea lights in glass votives and it is so beautiful lit up at night. I will have to do a night home tour video for you over on Instagram.

I just repotted my basil plant that I love having near my range when I cook. I literally pluck leaves off and add to my dishes.

I also have another fir candle here that I light when I am cooking.

I usually swap out my kitchen runner with each season but this one is so beautiful any time of year and I have had it in my kitchen the last couple of seasons.

For my basket of cutting boards, I added a these faux juniper stems and tied a light green velvet ribbon around them and tucked them into the basket.

Christmas Living Room Decor

In the living room, I used soft hues of blue and sage green. I love this color combination because it really is soothing on the eye and still has a very winter feel to it.

With texture elements and natural organic winter decor, this holiday living room feels so warm and cozy.

Christmas Seating Details

Over in the corner to the left of the fireplace, I have a rattan bench that I just switched the pillows out for this green stripe one I have had for years and this beautiful blue and white snowflake pillow.

This bench is where when you come in the house you can sit and take your shoes off and our cats love to lounge here by the fire.

Making it still look cozy is always a priority!

When using throw pillows I like to have one that is a stripe or larger print and then one that is a more decorative print like this snowflake one.

Sometimes I even throw a blanket across the end of the bench for extra coziness but I have a basket right now on the other side of the fireplace that has them for now.

Christmas Fireplace

I kept our Christmas fireplace mantel fairly simple with some garland, a couple of rattan trees, and some candles.

For the garland, I used 3 Norfolk pine garlands and 3 mixed greenery garlands that I already had on hand.

I wove a couple of battery operated strands of lights through them that makes it all glow at night and is so pretty.

For the sides of my garland, I added 4 strands of this beautiful blue silk ribbon and 4 strands of a thin white velvet ribbon.

Then I tucked these strands of bells (similar) up underneath.

I love using different stockings rather than them all being the same and I have collected these ones over the years. They are chunky knit but give a more eclectic vibe.

These knit stockings are very similar and a great price if you are looking for something like these ones.

I used command hooks underneath the garland to hang them up so they are hidden and tucked up under.

These rattan trees are THE item to get this year. There is a way more expensive version than these so if you love them go get these ones now for a fraction of the price.

They come in 3 sizes and are so pretty paired together.

I also had these olive green twisted candles (similar) and modern white tapered candle holders already.

I just flanked the trees and candles around my mirror to keep it simple and modern.

On either side of the fireplace, I have our birch logs in a simple modern log holder, a basket of blankets, and a pillow.

I have had these blankets for a few years and love to use them. They are super cozy!

Christmas Pillows and Decor Details

The rest of the decor in the living room mimick what I did on the fireplace with rattan and greenery stems.

Typically when I buy new decor for Christmas, I like to update my pillows.
These light blue and white patterned pillows and soft sage green pillows are super affordable.

I love that they pull the colors of the tree decor out and yet are soft and subtle.

For our swivel chairs, I used these knit tree pillows I got a few years back for a soft holiday look that is not too overpowering.

For our coffee table, I added more of the rattan trees, a bowl of pinecones, and a vase with some berry and pine stems.

I love the texture they add to the room and add to the soft subtle holiday look.

Christmas Tree Details

I love this Christmas tree and it’s a big one at 9′ tall. The branches down sweep a bit and are flocked.

I used light blues and greens for all the ribbon and ornaments to lend to the coastal feel in our home for the holidays.

When I start decorating my tree the first place I start is with floral picks.

I used 4 different floral picks/stems to help make the tree look fuller and add some contrast.

They are all ones I already had except these pretty blue berry picks. These ones come in a set of 4 and I used 2 sets on my tree.

This year I used 3 different ribbons. Typically I like to use between 3-5.

I used a thick light green wired velvet ribbon and tucked it in waves throughout the tree.

Then I used these pre-tied blue velvet ribbons. They also come with a twistie making it super easy to attach to the tree.

I really prefer this over having to tie each one and then figure out how to get them on the tree. It really saved me a lot of time.

Lastly, I cut small strips of light blue and white ribbon and draped them over leaves to add a little pattern and more color.

These beautiful flocked blue ornaments are a new purchase this year and come in a set of 12 and already have these beautiful velvet ribbons on them to hang them with.

They have a vintage look to them and are so pretty paired with the other silver and white ornaments on the tree,

I love using baskets for a tree skirt and again I’ve had this one for a few years. There are so many good ones and I have a whole post on the best tree collars to get.

And that’s it friends! I have a couple of other rooms I may decorate but I love the way the main areas of the house turned out.
