I don’t know about you, but I am still in cold weather here and I am kind of over it. I am looking forward to adding pops of Spring into my home and a color that comes to mind is turquoise.
This greenish-blue hue, derived from the gorgeous stone, actually has healing powers.
From the Egyptians to Native Americans it is believed that Turquoise has spiritual healing powers and you might already own a piece of jewelry with this brilliant gemstone, so, I am not surprised that turquoise brings feelings of tranquility and calm to any space and I am sharing with you a few ways to decorate with turquoise in your home.
How To Decorate With Turquoise:
Turquoise comes in many hues, just like the gemstone, allowing you to play with lighter to darker hues for any space. Decorating with turquoise is believed to bring harmony and happiness and I surely believe it and I want to give you my tips to add this color to your space, from more subtle and accessible ways to more permanent embellishments.
1. Add Accents Throughout A Room
An easy way to add this color to your space, if you are not ready for a long-term commitment, is in your furnishings and accents. From mixing in pillows with turquoise hues and accent rugs and a piece of art. The spaces below have accomplished this flawlessly. You can easily remove all the turquoise pieces come winter/holidays or when you are ready for a new color scheme.
I love how this room below pulled the color through not only on pillows but in the artwork and table lamps. It seems effortless in this neutral space.
Last year Rebekah added pops of turquoise to her spring refresh in her living room. I love how it tied in with her coastal artwork.
This room has so many gorgeous layers of turquoise. The band detail on the curtains really makes the pillow color pop on the sofa.
I love how this room used navy blue to add depth to the color palette. It makes the turquoise accents feel light and fresh.
This breakfast room is one of my favorites for sure. I love the natural wood elements that give it a beachy feel.
This is another all-time favorite room and Rebekah posted about the design details a while back which you can get here. This truly is a timeless looking room.

2. Painted Furniture or Cabinet
Another option to decorate with turquoise is to by re-purposing pieces of furniture. A dresser, or a mirror, maybe even an older bed that needs updating for a kids room. This is a great way to add hues of turquoise while not fully committing to an entire space.
I love accenting a room with a focal piece like in this room below. The dresser truly is a show stopper.
This is such a great way to repurpose a piece from the thrift store. We have a great tutorial on how to update a tired piece from a garage sale that will help you think outside of the box.
I love how this room has turquoise painted chairs to pop the artwork on the wall. So fun and whimsical.
This room took it to the next level by adding varying chairs and shades of turquoise. I love this idea in a bright white space!
3. Turquoise Accent Walls
Now, let’s say you are ready to commit. I say go for a statement wallpaper or accent wall. I love the color in a laundry room or powder room. It truly will make a statement while creating a peaceful but joyous space.
This accent wall in this deep turquoise compliments the area rug but also the view beyond. This is such a great way to carry a color scheme from one room to the next.

Who says you have to just use paint?! Fun wallpaper patterns and textures are perfect too. They give a modern touch to any space, especially like these powder rooms.

Turquoise is such a great color for a preteen and teenage girl’s room. I love the bold and fun feel of these rooms without it feeling too sophisticated.

4. Accent Your Kitchen Island
This is my new favorite way to decorate with turquoise. You have probably heard that color is coming back to kitchens. The all-white kitchens are adding pops of color in their islands and turquoise is taking over! It keeps the space feeling light and airy without adding a dark hue to the islands. It pairs perfectly with natural wood and gray making it perfect for kitchen spaces.

5. Front Door Curb Appeal
The easiest way to add turquoise to your home is with your front door and that is exactly what I did. I do not have that much turquoise in my interior (though I might copy those kitchen islands), but I wanted to lighten up the exterior of the home and the deep red brick. Turquoise was the perfect color for the job. Also, I am sure you have caught on to the trend that painted from doors are all the rage and making a statement on your block is a must.
It gives it such a fresh and fun update to your porch! I love the stark white trim to truly make the color pop.
I especially love the pattern on this door and the turquoise paint makes it a show stopper.
Just look at how gorgeous this house is with it’s turquoise painted door and matching shutters! What a great way to carry the color through the rest of the exterior design.
The richer turquoise color of this door accents the green foliage surrounding the house beautifully.

The gorgeous gemstone of turquoise has been around for centuries and who knew that this stone is believed to create healing powers and joy to those you wear it. So, why not decorate with turquoise bringing in a little feeling of joy and calm to our homes. I am all in!
H0w To Select The Perfect Turquoise Paint Color:
- A shade will look different from one room to the next due to lighting
- Always paint a 4×4 swatch on the wall to see if it will work
- Always paint 2-3 coats at least for a realistic swatch on the wall
- Pop the trim in a white for a dramatic effect
- Use accessories in the same shade to give your wall color some depth
