Simple Christmas Decorating Tips

Many people search for simple Christmas decorating tips when they want to make their home festive without spending too much money or time.

It can be frustrating to look up Christmas decorating ideas only to find expensive or complicated setups that don’t work in smaller homes or tight budgets.

Not everyone has a large living room or the time to build detailed displays that take days to complete and clean up afterward.

Some decorations can look cluttered or overwhelm your space, especially when the color scheme doesn’t blend well with what you already have.

When you’re trying to make the dining room feel cozy and festive, it’s hard to know where to begin without overthinking every detail.

A front door with no decor can feel like a missed chance when guests come over or when you’re just trying to enjoy the season yourself.

People love the glow of Christmas trees and twinkling lights, but not everyone wants to rearrange their whole house to make it happen.

So, let me walk you through these easy ideas for tree toppers, holiday decoration, and every cozy corner of your home you want to make brighter.

Favorite Christmas Decor To Use

I have a weakness for buying Christmas decor every year so one of the ways I make sure it is something I reuse each year is to collect staple pieces in neutral colors. That way they will go with any color scheme I choose which I change up each year.

Here are some of my favorite finds that are timeless and classic!

Simple Christmas Decorating Tips

These easy and simple decorating ideas for the holidays will help you elevate your Christmas decor and help you not feel overwhelmed in your decorating.

Many of these pieces you may already have but hopefully this gives you some new ideas so freshen up your holiday look!

Use Battery Operated Candles

If you have not jumped on the bandwagon of using battery-operated candles then run! They are amazing. I have now been using them for a few years and collecting new ones each season so now I have a pretty good collection of them.

Certain brands even make theirs flicker so it really looks like a lit candle. I also love the ones that have a wax finish, feel, and look more realistic.

One of my favorite ways to use them is in clusters on my mantle or console table. I use varying heights in candlesticks to give them more height.

Add Cozy Pillows and Blankets

Well, y’all know I am the pillow queen and I make no exception for the holidays to pull out my coziest ones.

I love to layer ones not only in the colors I am going to decorate with but also select ones that have cozy chunky fabrics.

You can even add some in baskets near the fireplace to give a warm festive vibe to the room.

Use Ribbon To Add Color

Ribbon is the easiest way to infuse holiday color into a space. I tie colorful ribbons to my garlands, on my ornaments, and to my Christmas tree.

I even love to layer ribbons that may only be 1 color or not have a pattern, giving them more dimension.

There are lots of places that have affordable ribbons but look for sales to get it in bulk.

Add Ornaments To Bowls

Ornaments are not just for Christmas trees!

One of my favorite simple holiday decor ideas is to add beautiful ornaments to bowls around the house. Vary them in sizes and colors, then tie beautiful velvet ribbons on them for a unique touch.

Decorate The Back Of Barstools

I decorate the back of my barstools every year and I have a small stash of mini wreaths to do this that I just change the ribbon for each year.

You can add them to the sticky command hooks or I love to use floral wire and weave it through the backs to tie them on.

Add Twinkle Lights

You can never have enough twinkle lights in my book. I love to add these to my stair garland, the garland on my mantle, nestled in bowls with ornaments, and even in jars with a little snow in them.

Many are battery operated so you just have to tuck the pack so you cant see it.
